ID 5: Reebok Japan Beatnik Cordura Sandals

Reebok‘s quirky Beatnik sandal fell out of style in the early ’00s everywhere except Japan, where it found a devout following (though PLEASURES may soon right that wrong). To reward Japanese Beatnik devotees, the Boston-based brand consistently issues new iterations of its backless shoe, with the latest variant sporting sturdy Cordura construction. Well-regarded for its resistance to tearing, Cordura is a suitable counterpart for the soft toebox of the Beatnik sandal, one that presumably will prevent any toes from poking through. Realized in black and beige to match each iteration of the sandal’s latest tonal forms, the tough textile is denoted by a small branded tag attached to the Beatnik’s adjustable buckle. Otherwise, the shoe’s classic detailing is intact, with a jagged sole unit, single rear strap, padded forefoot and comfortable cushioned footbed. Reebok Japan is currently preparing to launch the Beatnik sandals for ¥14,300 JPY (approximately $130 USD) apiece, no word on an international release yet.
